Canadian Pacific Railway (CP) built this single track bridge about 1912 between Ottawa and Toronto, via Smith Falls. It crosses the CN line near Shannonville, and runs parallel to it then crosses the CN again going along the north side at Cobourg.

The second dam up the Trent Canal from Lake Ontario. Highway 401 is in the foreground. The Trent Severn water way took over 100 years to complete, railways were already handling the traffic, and were faster. Water is being drained for the winter to prevent spring flooding. Looking north.

Concrete piers form the old Canadian Northern Railway (CNoR) built from 1911 to 1913 from Toronto to Ottawa via Shannonville, Sydenham and Smith Falls. The section from Trenton to Deseronto was shut down in 1931. It was Canada's 2nd national railway, it went bankrupt in 1918 and was taken over by CN which operated other parts of it until 1984. How far can you track the old rail line in the satellite photo?
